Cos'è la febbre emorragica di Crimea-Congo?
La febbre emorragica di Crimea-Congo è una malattia virale trasmessa dalle zecche. La malattia è endemica in Africa, Asia, Medio Oriente ed Europa orientale.
Cause
Il virus è trasmesso all'uomo attraverso il morso di una zecca infetta. Le zecche si infettano quando si nutrono di animali infetti, come bovini, pecore, capre e uccelli. Il virus può anche essere trasmesso attraverso il contatto con sangue o fluidi corporei di una persona infetta.
Sintomi
- Febbre alta
- Mal di testa
- Dolore muscolare
- Nausea
- Vomito
- Diarrea
- Eruzione cutanea
- Sanguinamento
- Insufficienza d'organo
I sintomi di solito compaiono da 3 a 12 giorni dopo il morso di una zecca infetta. La malattia può essere fatale in alcuni casi.
Trattamento
Non esiste un trattamento specifico per la febbre emorragica di Crimea-Congo. Il trattamento è di supporto e include:
- Fluidi per via endovenosa
- Trasfusioni di sangue
- Farmaci antivirali
Prevenzione
- Evitare le aree in cui sono presenti le zecche
- indossare abiti protettivi quando si è in aree infestate dalle zecche
- usare repellenti per zecche
- Controllare regolarmente il corpo per la presenza di zecche
- Rimuovere le zecche prontamente se vengono trovate
- Fare attenzione ai sintomi della febbre emorragica di Crimea-Congo
- Consultare un medico se si presentano sintomi
